Steps to NYSC Fitness Assessment
1: Gather Necessary Documents
Prepare the following documents before heading to the health centre:
- Recent Passport-Sized Photographs: Typically, you will need two to four copies.
- Relevant Medical Records: If you have any ongoing medical conditions or past health issues, bring your medical history or health records.
- NYSC Call-Up Letter (if available): This is not mandatory but helpful if you have received it.
2: Attend the Assessment
On the day of your assessment, arrive at the main campus health centre with your documents.
The assessment typically involves:
- Registration: Present your identification and documents at the reception. You may be required to fill out a registration form.
- Physical Examination: A healthcare professional will conduct a thorough physical exam, including checking your vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, etc.) and assessing your general physical condition.
- Laboratory Tests: You will undergo various lab tests, such as blood work and urine analysis, to check for conditions like anaemia, infections, or diabetes.
- Vision and Hearing Tests: These tests will ensure that your eyesight and hearing meet the necessary standards.
- Chest X-ray: If required, a chest X-ray will be conducted to screen for respiratory conditions, including tuberculosis.
3: Await Your Results
After completing the assessment, you may need to wait for your results. In most cases, the medical fitness certificate will be issued the same day or within a few days, depending on the tests conducted.
4: Collect Your Certificate
Once your results are ready and you are deemed fit, you will be issued an NYSC Medical Fitness Certificate.
This certificate is mandatory for your NYSC registration, so make sure to:
- Review the Certificate: Check that all your details are correct and that the certificate is duly signed and stamped by the authorised medical officer.
- Keep It Safe: Store the certificate in a safe place, as you will need to present it during your NYSC registration.
