The Directorate of Health Services provides thorough medical fitness assessments to ensure the well-being of our university community and those intending to join us.
Our fitness assessments are designed to evaluate the health status of new undergraduate regular students, CCED students, postgraduate students, and new staff members.
These assessments are essential for verifying that individuals are in good health and capable of participating in academic, professional, and extracurricular activities at the university.
Importance of Medical Fitness Assessment
The medical fitness assessment is aimed at identifying any underlying health conditions that may require further attention.
This ensures that students and staff can perform at their best in a safe environment, and it allows us to provide timely interventions when needed.
Through this process, we can help foster a healthier university community.
Please note!!!
The medical fitness assessments are conducted exclusively at the Main Campus Health Centre.

What the assessment involves
- Physical Examination: A thorough examination conducted by one of our medical officers to assess general health, including vital signs, cardiovascular and respiratory status, and overall physical condition.
- Laboratory Tests: Routine tests, such as blood and urine analysis, are conducted to check for underlying conditions like anaemia, infections, or other health issues.
- Chest X-ray: Depending on the assessment needs, a chest X-ray may be recommended to provide a clearer picture of respiratory health and rule out any underlying conditions.
- Health History Review: We review each individual’s medical history to understand any pre-existing conditions that may require further attention during their time at the university.
- Consultation for Fitness Certification: After the examination and tests, a consultation with our doctor will be conducted to review the results and issue a fitness certification, confirming your readiness for school, work, or service.
