Our ambulance service is a critical component of our emergency medical care.
Designed to provide rapid and reliable transportation in medical emergencies, our ambulance is equipped to ensure the safe conveyance of patients either to our on-campus facilities or, when necessary, to external referral centers for specialized care.
In those, we facilitate quick and seamless transfers to secondary or tertiary hospitals, ensuring continuous medical attention.
Our ambulance team, consisting of skilled clinic drivers, and healthcare staff, ensures that every step of the process is handled with professionalism and care.
What Is a Medical Emergency?
A medical emergency is any situation that requires immediate medical attention to prevent serious harm, injury, or even loss of life.
Emergencies can arise suddenly and unexpectedly, and quick intervention is crucial to stabilizing the patient’s condition.
Our ambulance service responds swiftly to these situations, ensuring that patients receive the care they need as quickly as possible.
What Constitutes an Emergency?
A medical emergency can take many forms, including but not limited to:
- Severe Injuries: This includes major trauma from accidents, falls, fractures, or deep cuts that may cause significant bleeding or require immediate medical intervention.
- Chest pain or suspected heart attack: Any sudden or severe chest pain, particularly if accompanied by shortness of breath, dizziness, or sweating, can be a sign of a heart attack and requires urgent medical attention.
- Difficulty breathing: respiratory distress or severe asthma attacks that make it hard for an individual to breathe or speak are emergencies that require prompt intervention.
- Loss of Consciousness: Fainting, sudden loss of consciousness, or an unresponsive person could indicate a serious underlying condition and should be treated as an emergency.
- Severe Allergic Reactions (Anaphylaxis): Reactions such as swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or sudden rash can quickly become life-threatening and require immediate care.
- Seizures or Convulsions: Especially if the person does not have a history of seizures, these can indicate serious neurological issues and need urgent evaluation.
- Severe Abdominal Pain: Sudden, intense abdominal pain, particularly when accompanied by vomiting or fever, could indicate conditions such as appendicitis and require urgent care.
What we offer
1. Fully Equipped Ambulance
Our ambulances are outfitted with essential medical equipment to handle a wide range of emergencies, including oxygen supplies, stretchers, first aid kits, and basic life support tools.
This enables our team to stabilize patients while en route to the health center or referral hospital.
2. Emergencies Surveillance
Our ambulance service is an integral part of our medical emergency surveillance on campus.
During key university events—such as student examinations, sporting activities, inaugural lectures, and other high-traffic events—our ambulances are stationed at strategic points, ready to respond to any health emergencies.
This proactive approach ensures that no matter where an incident occurs, medical help is only minutes away.
3. 24/7 Availability
Emergencies can happen at any time, which is why our ambulance service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Whether it’s a medical crisis in the middle of the night or during a busy academic day, we are always on standby to respond swiftly.
4. External Referrals
When patients require specialized or more intensive care that our facilities are unable to provide, we ensure a smooth transition to external referral centers.
Our team coordinates with the receiving hospital, providing them with all necessary patient information, and ensuring that care continues without disruption.
5. Skilled and Experienced Personnel
Our ambulance team includes trained clinic drivers, and healthcare staff, including the Clinical Department and Nursing Department of the DHS, to ensure seamless care.
