Sick Leave

Sick leave certificates are issued to officially certify that a registered patient requires time off due to illness.

These certificates are important for students, staff, and indigenes who need to formally document their medical condition to their respective institutions or employers.

If you are a registered patient at our clinic and require a sick leave certificate, follow these steps:

1. Visit the Clinic for an Evaluation

Sick leave certificates are only issued after a thorough medical evaluation by an attending medical officer.

You must be physically present at the clinic and assessed by a doctor to determine the necessity for leave.

2. Request from the Attending Medical Officer

After your consultation, you can request a sick leave certificate from the medical officer.

Please note that the issuance of the certificate is at the discretion of the medical officer based on their professional judgement and your condition.

3. Duration of Leave

The medical officer will decide the appropriate length of time for which the certificate is valid, depending on the severity of your illness.

4. Pick Up Your Certificate

Once approved, your sick leave certificate will be issued, detailing the recommended time off and your condition.

You can then present it to your school or workplace to justify your absence.

Important Reminder

  1. Sick leave certificates are only issued if the attending medical officer determines that you need to be excused from school or work for a significant period.
  2. Any misuse or falsification of sick leave certificates is a serious offence and will lead to disciplinary action.

For genuine and justifiable absences due to illness, trust that our medical team will provide you with the necessary documentation following university health policies.
