How we expect you to behave at any of our facilities.

Before your visit…

  1. Bring the necessary documents, including your student or staff ID, test results, etc.
  2. Medication List: Bring a list of any medications you are currently taking.
  3. Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to remove or adjust if a physical examination is needed.
  4. Note your symptoms, including their duration and any factors that make them better or worse.
  5. Write down any questions or concerns you have for your healthcare provider to ensure all your queries are addressed during your visit.

During your visit…

  1. Respect and Courtesy: Treat staff and other patients with respect. Use polite language and maintain a calm demeanour.
  2. Silence Mobile Phones: Keep your phone on silent to avoid disturbing others.
  3. Personal Hygiene: Maintain good personal hygiene to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone.

After your visit…

  1. Follow-Up: Follow any advice or instructions given by your healthcare provider. If you need a follow-up appointment, our staff will assist you in scheduling it.
  2. Medication: If prescribed any medication, ensure you understand the dosage and schedule. Our pharmacists are available to answer any questions you may have.
  3. Stay Informed: Keep an eye out for any changes in your symptoms or new symptoms that may arise and report them to your healthcare provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Directorate of Health Services operates during the time period of 8 am to 4 pm on workdays only. Some of our health facilities are open and provide services 24/7 every day for medical emergencies. You can find exact information on opening hours for each of our facilities here.

Clinic time is between 8 am and 4 pm on weekdays. Subsequent hours between 4:01 pm and 7:59 am the next day, as well as weekends, are earmarked for attending to medical emergencies. To this end, you are advised to come early in the day on weekdays for your appointment.

Please bring your clinic card, any relevant medical records, and a list of any medications you are currently taking (if applicable).

Unless otherwise informed not to eat before coming, commonly done for patients being evaluated with a fasting blood test, you are advised to have your regular meals before your visit.

All consultations are conducted physically at any of our health centre facilities. This ensures that our healthcare providers can thoroughly assess and address your health concerns.

Yes, there is a pharmacy on-site where prescribed medications can be obtained.

The Directorate provides basic and some specialised medical services. For highly specialised care, referrals may be made to other facilities.

Following medical registration with us at the Main Campus health centre, patients are offered a clinic card (pink card). They can have access to a sick note, sick leave, or medical report as appropriate. Graduates who are in need of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) medical fitness certification can also obtain the certification with us, as well as law graduates in need of law school medical fitness certification.

Medical documents can be obtained from the health centre after a consultation with one of the doctors. You can get a sick note or sick leave immediately after a consultation. A medical report takes a few working days to be processed. The process of medical fitness certification for NYSC and law school can be completed in a day or two.
